John's Electrical Services was originally founded as John's Auto & Marine Electrical Services by a fellow named John... |
a story of a legend of his kind... |
In the early 1970's, a young automotive machinist by the name of John Bole decided to open up his own shop and do what he did best... Automotive Electrical service and repair. |
John opened up in a small shop in lower
New Westminster not far from the water front.
In the early 1980's, John moved his shop around the corner and down the lane to the location where he remained until he hung his test lights and meters for good.
Where ever he was, John's shop was always one of Chaos... albeit an organized chaos. John always knew where to find that obsolete starter part which he had saved for years and years along with everything else that made up his home away from home. The benches & pathways & shelves around his shop were always lined with this, that and everything else... |
John wasn't picky, he worked on pretty much anything... the only catch was it had to be electrically related.
John worked on generators, electric motors this, that and the next thing and also kept the the local railway yard ticking by keeping their locomotive electric motors working, even when obsolete. John even took up the challenge of doing a major rewire of this classic car in his last few weeks on the job.

On June 15th,
2001... at around 4:30 in the afternoon... the people started coming...
It was an impromptu retirement party thrown together by the community
around and about that John had helped out time and time again in the many years
gone by.
It was a surprise... on the last day at work that John had considered just another day on the job! They came with a table... snacks... drinks...a cake... and stories from days and years past when John came through for them... |
In the hussle and bussle to tie up all the loose ends on the last day, John slowed his pace and took a few minutes to reminisce with the guys from the neighborhood.
Where had all the years gone?? It didn't really matter now... today was the first day of the rest of John's life... and retirement was welcomed with open arms!! |

The people came and went. Some dropped by long enough to say "Thanks for all your help over the years". Some stayed and chatted with others and swapped stories about John and his miracle fixes. |
It is no secret that a great many people will be sad to see John go. Tradesmen like John have become fewer and farther between within the years when things were fixed versus replaced.

John has packed his bags and moved to the upper coastal British Columbia. If you would like to drop John a line, perhaps a thank you note, send us a message and we will forward it to him. Home Page
